Since PXPay Plus launched its cross-border payment service in Japan in early 2024, it has consistently shown strong performance in transaction volume and new user growth. Data shows that 40% of users registered while travelling in Japan, and 80% continued using PXPay Plus after returning to Taiwan. Additionally, data indicates that PXPay Plus users aged 21 to 40 are the primary consumers in overseas transactions, accounting for 62% of all transactions. This suggests that cross-border payments appeal to younger users and encourage long-term engagement.
In addition, since its launch in January 2025, PXPay Plus has become the first-ever e-wallet brand from Taiwan to provide its services in South Korea. Kenneth Yu, General Manager of PXPay Plus, states, “The purpose of cross-border payments is not only to increase transaction volume but also to add value, such as growing the user base and raising brand awareness.” Data from the Tourism Statistics Database of the Tourism Administration shows that South Korea has become the third-largest outbound destination for Taiwanese tourists, and its year-over-year (YOY) growth has surpassed Japan over the past three years. Therefore, with such strong potential, South Korea is PXPay Plus’s second expansion after its successful experience in Japan, marking another step forward in its overseas market journey.
